Turtle Boy!

We love summer! Who doesn't! One of our favorite things to do in the summer is play in the water, isn't yours!

Little Isaac here loves his rubbery turtle when we go to the fountains to play! He crawls around and chews on his head, feet and tail! It is a great water toy! On my secondary title card you can see it didn't quite match my theme as it was originally designed for beach pages! Well, we live in Minnesota, not too many beaches here! So I crossed out "Beach" and wrote "Fountain", making my title card unique to my LO!

I don't always matchy match supplies that are in the same "line" or even made by the same company. I often use most of my coordinating supplies and then the remainders get sorted in various containers in my scrap space. This corner of a frame is one such item! It is from a stash of supplies from years ago and I was so excited when I came across it while making this page! It is mounted with Pop Dots for a little depth!

Unique alphas are my cup of tea! And these squishy, puffy letters are just perfect for this LO, just like Isaac's squishy turtle!

I can't get enough of the goodness of rub-ons! They are so versatile and fun to use all over the page, layering them on photos, cardstock, and more!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend!

A Few of My Favorite Things

Today I want to show you a few favorite ways that I add small details to my layouts! Here we have "A Few of My Favorite Things".

On this LO I pulled out a few Making Memories (MM), and Stampin Up! (SU!) products that I don't use too often. I frequently like to go through my scrapbooking supplies and search for items that I haven't used in a while! I'll chat about those goodies here in a minute.

One of my not to often used supplies is the twill ribbon you see here. This is a basic neutral colored ribbon that I added a little "zip" to! I chose an ink pad from SU! that coordinated with the colors on my cardstock, and grabbed an SU! stamp that I like (who doesn't like paisley?) and I laid the ribbon on a piece of plain paper (so I don't ink up my desk) and stamped the ribbon. Easy as pie and cute as can be! I then cut the ribbon in strips and taped them on the back of my LO and under the photo. The criss-cross design is pretty fun I think!

As you can see here, I use layers. A lot of layers. And... I use Pop Dots! A LOT of Pop Dots! I can't get enough dimension! Which makes for pretty thick pages and pretty thick pages make for a very thick scrapbook album!

Such a thick album that mine comes no where near to closing... Pretty much all of my albums end up like this once they are considered full... The one problem I have with my desire to have dimensional pages is that the books become somewhat cumbersome to carry... so my cure for that is.... Don't carry it far! My scrapbook album spot is right on the end table next to the couch... Pick it up and sit down! Easy Peasy!

The other item I dug out of the trenches of my scrapbook supply stock pile is an MM distressor. My distressor has a plastic handle surrounding a small blade that is scraped along the edges of the paper to make them rough and gorgeous like this! Sometimes I add a little extra uuumph and ink the edges like I did here. I thought the heart paper clip was perfect for this list of my favorite things:
  • Sun kissed children
  • Spending time together having fun
  • Warm summer days
  • God's perfect nature
  • Spending days off together
  • Watching my children's bond grow in their hearts
  • Photography
  • Getting photos with all 3 kids
  • Finding beauty so close to home
  • The 3 pictured above

I hope you all have a great day and make sure to spend some time scrapping soon! Keep on saving those memories! Oh and don't forget to take some time to make memories too! After all, of you don't make 'em you can't save 'em!

First post of the Nap Time Scrapper!

Hi Everybody! I'm here to give you some examples of some easy to put together scrapbook layouts in case you ever need a little creative inspiration!

The first page I want to show you is called "To Each His Own". My little guys each have their own way to enjoy the snow, one inside, one outside!

99.9% of my Layouts are 12x12

Winter pages are always a fun topic to scrap, and are somewhat of a rarity this year, we have had the oddest winter! One thing I want to mention, please remember when you are scrapping that you don't always have to use perfect photos! I don't always drag out my DSLR camera to take pictures to scrap, I often don't even get out my point and shoot camera! These photos were taken with my cell phone! I always have my phone on me and it is OFTEN used in my day to day life scrapbook layouts!

I love chipboard alpha's, though experience has taught me that they often get too dry and fall off the page after they have been there for a few years... Maybe a little back-up adhesive is a good idea!

I often mat my photos on my LO's (layouts), but not too often do I mat them with plain white cardstock. I opted for white on this page as 2 of the photos came printed with a white border and I liked it, so I went with it!

You probably noticed that I don't have fancy typed journaling on this LO. As 99% of the time, I hand write my journaling! It lends to a more personal feel for me. The reason I scrapbook is so my children will know as much about their childhood as possible. I know me, and therefor I know that if I have to take the time to type and print it simply won't get done... so I grab an archival safe scrapbooking pen (I like Stampin' Up!) and start writing! You may catch a slip up in my writing sometimes as I am often lost in thought as I write and an occasional ooops happens!

Notice these beautiful snowflakes? Just seeing them as I type this reminds me why I like punches so much! I am slowly but surely building my collection of punches as they are just SO EASY and unique to use on my LO's. I helped them POP off the page by using my FAVORITE embellishment adhesive, Pop Dots!

I hope you all enjoyed my first blog post, and I hope to see you again soon here on the Nap Time Scrapper! And remember, even if you don't know what you are doing, you are probably not going to be scrapbooking layouts that the world will be seeing! You are most likely scrapbooking in order to preserve memories, just do it! Simple and easy is a great way to start!
